Today is market day in Riobamba. The streets are filled with vendors selling their goods. People from all over the province come to buy and to sell. At the market, you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables for cents. Housewares, hardware, and clothing is also sold. Of course, you have to haggle for a good price! Sometimes as gringos (white skinned), we get charged double. It is a fun to walk down the streets and experience the sights, sounds, and smells of market day. Since we do not have a mall or a Walmart in town, this is our opportunity to go grocery shopping.

Look at the fresh produce aisle!
