Religion or Relationship? That's the question we asked during Easter week. We saw many aspects of "religion." Along the roadsides shrines were set up remembering the death of Christ. On Good Friday, there were processions of people re-enacting Jesus carrying the cross (even in the rainstorm). Then later there was a special mass in the Catholic church. Seeing all of these religious acts reminded us that it's not about following man-made traditions (religion), but rather having a personal relationship with Christ -- accepting God's free gift of salvation.
On Resurrection Sunday, Bill challenged the believers with a message entitled "
If It Were Not For the Resurrection of Christ" which reminded us that without Him:
- We would not have forgiveness of sin
- We would not have the hope of eternal life
- Our faith would be in vain
After the service we were able to observe the Lord's Table (how appropriate!) and closed in prayer as the group joined hands in a circle. We serve a Risen Savior!!
