Culture Shock

Pretzels . . . Interstates . . . Cottage cheese . . . Wireless hot spots . . . Olympic games televised . . . Ginger Ale . . . Bathtubs . . . Infant car seats . . . Those are some things that are almost non-existent where we live in Riobamba. The thing that is most overwhelming is the ease and availability of things. For instance, Bill received his drivers license in 25 minutes instead of waiting for six months. We were able to open a bank account in 10 minutes instead of having multiple forms of ID and mountains of notarized paperwork. That in a nutshell is the tale of two countries and to be honest can be a bit overwhelming at times!!
