Qui-Towed
Yesterday we were in the capital city of Quito, and Bill had to go to the immigration office to pick up some paperwork. He parked on the same street as on previous visits, as it's not marked as a no parking zone. Ten minutes later he walked out to retrieve something from the truck and watched as the city towed it away. He tried to beg and plead with the driver, but to no avail. The driver pointed to a no parking sign (one block away). Bill took a taxi and went to the office to pay the hefty fine. Then he took another taxi to the impound yard to show them the receipt and pick up the truck. After two hours and an empty billfold, Bill was on his way. Another lesson learned!
