Digging Deeper

On Sunday afternoon we held a Bible Study Methods class for the men from our churches. We didn't know how many would attend, and we were encouraged by the 15 nationals who came, eager to learn! The men met from 3 to 9 pm. The first half of the class, taught by our co-worker Kevin Mayfield, focused on how to observe and interpret a passage from the Bible. At the halfway point Tracy and two other ladies served a delicious meal of roasted chicken, potatoes, and salad, with cookies and coffee for dessert. The second half of the class was hands-on, focusing on teaching the men to develop an outline and gain a working knowledge of the Bible passage given to them. They were taught how to use a concordance and dictionary as tools to dig deeper into the meaning of the words, and Bill was able to help several men work through their passages. The goal now is for each one to present his devotional at a Wednesday night prayer meeting in the coming weeks. The response from the men was overwhelming, so they are going to meet again in two weeks! Thank you for praying for our team as we train these men to "rightly divide the Word of Truth."
