Making an Impact . . . For Eternity

Brett Favre impacted the game of football as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. On March 4, 2008, Favre formally announced his retirement and walked away from the game that he impacted. Here are just some of the many accomplishments from his brilliant 15 year NFL career: record for most touchdown passes (442); record for most career passing yards (61,655); most career victories as a starting quarterback (160); and a victory against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. His achievements and accomplishments will be talked about for decades to come.

Are we as believers making an impact on our neighborhoods, communities, and worldwide with the Gospel that will last for all eternity? We don't have to set any records or win any awards, get recognition or keep a running total of anything. What we do have to do is shake our neighbor's hand, build a friendship with that guy at work, invite that single mom over for a cup of tea or coffee. Favre was successful because he poured himself into being a great teammate; football isn't an individual sport. Life isn't an individual sport, we're meant to share it with others. Work together, pour ourselves into others. Yes, it takes effort. But seeing that neighbor, co-worker, single mom become interested in spiritual things and want to know their Creator, to see them accept Christ as Savior and watch as they grow . . . that's the payoff, that's the reward. Seeing someone who was "dead in trespasses and sins" (just as we once were) become "alive in Christ." Then you've made an impact . . . for eternity.

Good Job,
it is more important for us to impact eternity than have impacts that only serve this life and have no effect on eternity. As Jesus followers we need to focus on making an impact here that impacts eternity.
Prayin for you Bill! and Tracey!
