Back to School

Ashley and Laura were excited to start school again after a long summer break. All three girls spent last week in Alausi with friends for a few days of fun and relaxation. We were thankful they were well cared for while we were busy with cleanup after the volcano erupted. Things are finally back to normal, more or less, although the cleanup efforts will continue for a good while to come.

Even after only one day, Ashley is noticing a difference in the difficulty of her schoolwork now that she has begun 6th grade. And even Laura, who began 2nd grade today, said she was glad to be back to school. We weren't sure whether we would start today because of all the chaos last week, but when the girls got up this morning they actually begged us to start! I think they both enjoy the rhythm and consistency that comes with the school schedule. They usually finish by lunchtime or shortly thereafter, and have the afternoons to play with friends.
