Mission: Visa Renewal--Completed!

This month, it was time to go through the visa renewal process for the first time. When we applied for our visas at the consulate in the States, they only granted us visas valid for one year. One of the requirements that we needed to do was to get all of our birth certificates apostilled (stamped with an official seal) from five different States. The total one-time fee came to $600 (ouch!) Bill's parents were able to bring the documents with them when they came to visit in June. Two weeks ago, we sent our pakage of documents to the lawyer in Quito to be processed. We thought that it would take close to a month to complete the process. This morning, a courier came to the door with a package from the lawyer in Quito. We opened it up, and there were 5 visas renewed for two more years. So we are official in the country until August 2008! Mission: Visa Renewal--Completed!
