On Top of the World

Our family recently took a trip to Mt. Chimborazo. The mountain's elevation spans at a mere 20,700 ft. It is the closest point on the earth to the sun.

We went on a perfectly clear day, so we took lots of pictures. Many mountain climbers from around the world scale the top of the snow-capped peak. We parked at the first refuge, and hiked halfway to the second refuge (elevation: 15,500 ft.) The sensation of the lack of oxygen was unbelievable!

The girls really enjoyed themselves, and even little Elise did not want to be carried--she wanted to walk like a big girl. We were thankful that our family could share together in this "breathtaking" experience. Posted by Picasa
