Neighborhood Sounds

Dogs barking . . . Car and house alarms ringing . . . Neighbors blaring loud music . . . There are many, many different sounds in the neighborhood. Every delivery truck has a unique sound. The water delivery truck stops at our house and rings the doorbell. The gas truck uses a "chirping" whistle while driving by. The dry cleaning truck plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and other songs over the loudspeaker. Other vehicles pass by announcing over the loudspeaker fruit for sale or an upcoming event. The garbage truck has a unique sound that lets you know that it is time to put your garbage out at the corner (soon enough to be picked up, but not too soon that the dogs on the street get into the garbage!) So, our ears have been "trained" to the many neighborhood sounds and tunes!

Yes, only in Ecuador does the garbage truck sound like the ice cream man!
