Memories of Our Mothers

Bill: My mom is a great baker and cook. She is most famous for her blonde brownies and I definitely miss her manicotti dish that she would make for birthdays and special days. One funny incident that I can remember is that we were on a family trip and were stopped at a red light. My mom hopped out to get the cooler in the back trunk so that we could eat lunch. Seconds later the light turned green, and we heard a siren and saw blue lights flashing behind us. We pull over to the side of the road, and a police officer asked what we were doing in a low voice. He said, "Maam, for your safety next time you will have to wait to pull over to the shoulder to feed your family." He only gave us a warning and we went on our way! I have fond memories of my mother caring for our family, sacrificing her needs above ours, and most importantly she is a woman of prayer. I thank God for her godly instruction and I love her very much!

Tracy: My mom taught me how to cook favorite family recipes (clam chowder, zucchini patties, stuffed mushrooms -- yum!), and how to sew and clean house. She was with me for the birth of all four of our children; as I raise those children, so many times I catch myself looking back to my childhood, gleaning wisdom from my mom's example. And the example that I treasure the most is that she instilled in me a love for the Lord and His Word. She's always been a hard worker, a great example, and my best friend. I love it when I can spend a day with her! One funny memory I have of my mom: When Ashley was born we had to take her for an MRI. After the doctor appointment we headed to the car. Bill got in the driver's seat and my mom was in the front with him. I was in the back seat with Ashley. Bill looked back at me and asked, "Am I all right (to pull out of the parking space)? My mom thought he asked, "What's an MRI?" So she proceeded to explain all about MRI's. You should have seen the bewildered look on Bill's face! But I got a good laugh out of it! I love you, Mom, and hope you have a GREAT Mother's day. Wish I could spend it with you!
